Did you know that today is Pentecost?
It has always been one of my favorite days of the church year. Everyone wears red, we read in many languages, and we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit. It is often called the birthday of the church: the disciples felt the rushing wind and the Spirit came upon them like tongues of flame. The disciples went out and started to speaking to people in their own languages and spread the Gospel of God's love to all people.
Today we had balloons, pinwheels, and bubbles to represent to movement of wind. We know the Spirit is all around us, just like air, even when we don't feel it. There is no way we can outrun the love of God. There is not sadness or anger that is too much for God. God's unending love surrounds us forever and ever.
Happy Pentecost!
